Be An Explorer
Most of us have been exposed to the proposition that “if one can chase a thousand, two can put ten thousand to flight” (Deuteronomy 32:30). This is what is known as a “force multiplier” — a capability or factor that, when added, dramatically increases the effectiveness of an existing group. In economics it is called the “multiplier effect” and refers to the increase in final income arising from a new injection of spending or investment.
Scripture contains numerous examples of force multiplication. In 1 Samuel 14, Jonathan and his armor-bearer overcame a larger Philistine contingent when the latter’s faith and sword were joined to his master. When Paul arrived in Corinth, he made tents until Silas and Timothy joined him from Macedonia allowing him to “devote himself exclusively to preaching… so that many of the Corinthians who heard him believed and were baptized” (Acts 18:5,8). The preacher in Ecclesiastes declares:
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor… though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken” (4:9-12).
The Sentinel Group is currently looking for men and women who will stand with us as “force multipliers.” Like Paul in Corinth, we are limited in what we can do on our own. The opportunities and challenges are enormous — but our team is small. Like Jonathan, we need armor-bearers who will join us in battle. Like Moses, we need Aaron’s and Hur’s who will hold up our arms at decisive moments (see Exodus 17).
The Explorer Program makes it a bit easier for you to stand shoulder to shoulder with us. Giving carries its own blessing when the cause is right and the timing is strategic. But sometimes there are added rewards!
